Learning Spaces & Technologies

DTEI works collaboratively with campus technology and administrative units to enhance institutional support for current and future educational practices. UCI’s physical and digital learning environments are a central focus of these efforts. Together with our partners, our goal is to ensure that these spaces, tools, and the policies and processes that govern their use continue to evolve in alignment with advances in teaching and education research.

Recent and upcoming projects for 2022 include:

New 100+ Seat Active Learning Classroom
During Summer 2022, SSL 270 and 290 will be combined to create a new large active learning classroom with a layout optimized for collaborative learning.

Future of Proctoring Tools at UCI
DTEI is partnering with the Academic Testing Center (ATC) and OIT to review existing use of proctoring tools at UCI and explore options to meet future needs.

Hybrid Course Scheduling
DTEI is working with the University Registrar to review classrooms scheduling practices related to hybrid courses and to pilot strategies to improve access to active learning classrooms for these courses.
