UCI Hosts Eighth Annual STEM Education Research Conference

by | Feb 6, 2024 | DTEI Newsletter, DTEI Stories

On January 12 and 13, DTEI welcomed nearly 300 faculty, staff, and students from two- and four-year colleges and universities for the eighth annual Society for the Advancement of Biology Education Research (SABER) West conference. Conference goals included increasing interactions among STEM educators and education researchers, improving connections between two- and four-year institutions, providing professional development to conduct education research and implement evidence-based teaching practices, and creating an inclusive conference space.

Highlights from the conference included the keynote presentation on equity-oriented pedagogy delivered by Dr. Andrew Phuong (Assistant Professor in the Department of Education Studies, UC San Diego), as well as several STEM education research talks and teaching- and research-focused workshops for attendees. We look forward to continuing to facilitate collaborations and information sharing with our ninth conference next January. Stay tuned for more details.
