Coffee Meets Teaching

Faculty enjoy exchanging teaching ideas with each other and sharing classroom experiences. Coffee Meets Teaching is a faculty speed dating program that pairs faculty to conduct causal conversions about teaching. The idea was originally created by a faculty member from the Donald Bren School of Information and Computer Sciences, Jennifer Wong-Ma.

“We encourage our students to make social connections with their peers – it’s our turn! As a faculty member, I want to continue to receive peer support and grow our teaching skills by connecting with new colleagues across campus.”

How does this program work?

Faculty interested in “dating” another faculty will create a “dating profile” via an online application. The profile indicates your teaching interest and teaching matters you want to discuss with other faculty. Then, meet with all of your potential dating partners speed dating-style to start conversations. All participating faculty will receive a $10 Starbucks gift card from DTEI to continue meeting with your “dates” throughout the quarter. Finally, the group meets again at the end of the quarter, to exchange their dating experiences and share the take away from their conversions.
