Professor Brandon Golob is the winner of the 2022 Learning Experience Design and Online Teaching award. Professor Golob demonstrated outstanding online/remote teaching excellence for the CRM/LAW C186. Social Media and The Law course.
First of all, Professor Golob customized a student-centered Canvas home page with a weekly shortcut button to help them navigate learning content throughout the course. He designed an easy-to-follow learning pathway using the Canvas module to guide students’ learning. Based on his course syllabus, Brandon clearly communicates the instructor’s expectations by detailing the course components, grading structure, and course policy.
In addition, it is evidenced by the learning components and the syllabus language used in this course that Professor Golob cares about his students’ wellness and managing stress. His welcome video is warm and inviting. He also created various types of assessments and mini-assignments to guide students’ success in his course.
Professor Golob is a role model, influencing other educators in teaching excellence. He has actively served as a faculty panel speaker and showcases his teaching in various seminars and workshops hosted by the Division of Teaching Excellence and Innovation (DTEI). Dr. Brandon Golob not only connects coursework with real-life examples and current media, but also provides positive, constructive feedback on assignments. He showed compassion to students who needed assistance, which helped me become a better mentor to undergraduates.
Professor Brandon Golob is the winner of several Celebration of Teaching awards in the year 2022, including Learning Experience Design and Online Teaching award, the Digital Learning award, and the UCI Inclusive Excellence Teaching Award. In 2020 – 2021, he was named the School of Social Ecology’s Professor of the Year and the recipient of a Chancellor’s Award for Excellence in Undergraduate Research Mentorship.
