Disability takes many shapes and forms, and many disabilities are invisible. In this workshop we will discuss how to address the question of physical and learning disabilities in lesson planning to ensure that each student is included in the learning process and feels supported by the instructor. After the workshop, you will be able to name and describe the five most common disabilities that the UCI students have and develop a toolkit of strategies that will help you better accommodate these students’ diverse needs. The workshop will provide you with an opportunity to draft an inclusive lesson plan for your discussion section/ laboratory meeting and discuss it with your colleagues.
Feel free to bring your lunch!
** This workshop partially meets the Diversity requirement for the Certificate in Teaching Excellence.
