Learning How People Learn
Time/Date/Location: Tuesday, April 19th, 2022, 11:00 am to 12:30 pm PST via Zoom
Description: In this workshop, we will discuss our experiences as learners in order to create a toolkit to evaluate how and when learning happens in our classrooms. We will also examine the effectiveness of common approaches to learning in light of recent research from anthropology, cognitive and social psychology, and education. Some of the common approaches we will discuss include learning styles, the learning environment, active learning, and collaborative learning. At the end of this workshop, participants will be able to mobilize both their experiences as learners and existing research on learning in order to strengthen their inclusive teaching practices.
Facilitator: Scott Jung, Senior Pedagogical Fellow, Department of Anthropology
