Educating for Intellectual Character

October 25, 2022
6:00 pm - 7:30 pm

AIRB 1030

In this seminar we will learn about what it means to educate for intellectual character, and why this has important pedagogical benefits. The seminar will be led by Professor Jason Baehr from Loyola Marymount University, who is a recognized expert on this educational model. There will also be further short presentations from UCI Professors Duncan Pritchard and Richard Arum who will, respectively, offer a practical discussion of how one can make use of UCI’s Anteater Virtues curriculum project to facilitate teaching for intellectual character, and describe how one’s participation in this initiative can contribute to an ongoing program to measure the effect of this curriculum project on educational outcomes.
